As Groups across the country celebrate the 50th Birthday of Riding for the Disabled Association which was formed in 1969 Berwickshire Group held a splendid get together for riders, vaulters, volunteers and friends on Saturday 7th September.
The weather was kind and the sun shone to welcome everyone to the riding arena which looked very different to what it does on a riding day with chairs and tables spread around so people could meet and mingle.
The Groups prize winning Arts & Crafts entries were on display and information boards and other items let people see what the Group gets up to and the old photos stirred many memories as we all reminisced, and the horse list reveled that more than 130 horses and ponies have helped Berwickshire Group since it was formed in 1982.
After we had raised our glasses in a toast to RDA, Johanna Wright and Jane Cowan founder members of the Group cut the Birthday Cake beautifully baked and decorated by Catherine Dixon.
Gladys Chucklebutty then entertained us all with magic and balloons keeping the party spirit going.
Everyone then tucked in to a great Hog Roast provided by Oink, Reivers Farm Foods which was much enjoyed by everyone.
Tea and cake followed, and then we all went home having had a wonderful afternoon celebrating the work done by RDA and its faithful horses.
