The Berwickshire Group had a very successful National Championships at Hartpury College, Gloucester on Friday 12th, Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July 2019.

Celebrations for RDA Nationals 50th Birthday set the tone and the Princes Royal visited on Friday and was entertained by a wonderful display of all that encompasses RDA.

Berwickshire Group horses Bart Simpson and Pitucelli behaved impeccably and did not put a foot wrong and they were much admired by everyone.

The weekend could not have happened without the wonderful help from Jude Logan and Sarah Moor both Tuesday evening helpers and Philip Hewit who did much work in the background with Clive Burrough our great Eric Gillie driver.

Those who qualified did us proud and our Art Work looked very good on display, sadly this year our two Musical Rides did not appear in the prize list.

Well done to the young people who entered the Annual RDA UK National Championships. Their collage was entered to the collage section and won first prize. Even better news is that their artwork also won first prize for “Overall Best Picture” in the arts and craft section.
Pupils will keep the beautiful trophy for year. They will also decide how they would like to spend the £40 prize money.
Well done to Hayley Paxton, Christoffer Pedersen, Eva McKinven, Jacob Rothery and Mrs Trace.
A big thank you to Mrs Trace for leading on this.

Well done everyone who took part and a huge thank you to all the Groups wonderful helpers who let all this happen.

Margaret.

Also quote some of the participants:

'We had a great, daft time.  They also added

Thank you to Hartpury & the organisers there. The whole event always seems to run smoothly, effortlessly, on time, in place and efficiently, but I’m sure there is frantic paddling going in out of sight! Lots of happy, relaxed people with horses, dogs, excellent ice creams and bacon butties.'

The group are also grateful to the financial support of the Brown fund, through the Edinburgh & Borders Region.

Bart Simpson was also in action wih Jane from the Border Group, supported well from the Border Mascot, Champ on the sidelines.

There may be amendments to the above and additional photographs to follow

The following was passed on by Edinburgh & Borders Regional Chair, Kim McCutcheon, also pictured moddling her Scarf off cut Hula skirt and 50th Anniversary 'eye wear'  - very fetching.

A short note to update everyone on the successes for the Region at this year's National Championships that were held on the 12-14 Jul 19 at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.  This year we had 13 participants travel to Hartpury to compete.  Our largest contingent for some time so a huge thank you to the coaches, volunteers, parents and supporters who enabled them to take part.  Everyone had a fantastic time with smiles all round and plans made to compete again in 2020.
